Software: Everest Poker is a stand alone site using proprietary software developed by parent company, Grand Virtual Casinos. There’s nothing revolutionary here, other than the note taking function where you can stick a player with not just your own notes, but a colour coded mark of varying strength for quick reference. The software is similar to Party Poker, complete with cheesy human characters. Table re-sizing is available, and you can change through a multitude of varied backgrounds, which unfortunately are all a bit busy, and simple black tends to be easiest on the eye, and best for multi-table play. 5
Support: Only email support is available here, which is disappointing, however they do have multi-lingual support, and while this does nothing for those of us stuck in English only mode, what it does do is encourage a raft of Europeans to play here, and we all know the benefits that this simple fact brings. In particular you won’t be able to find a single table without a German, never mind multiple Germans. So while support isn’t the best, it serves its purpose in other more beneficial ways. 6
Banking: Everest Poker accepts Neteller, Moneybookers, Click2Pay, PaySafe Card, Visa & Mastercard, plus IPS, an Asian specific online payment system. No debit card option, but hopefully enough for most serious UK players. 7
Bonuses: Everest Poker have a $100 Welcome Bonus, which is pretty poor in today’s poker landscape. However no-deposit reload bonuses are pretty thick on the ground, so there won’t be often that you play without a little feedback from the rake you pay. 6
Game Availability: Everest Poker is now the leading European stand alone site, and behind only the Ongame Network, Poker Stars, Full Tilt and Party Poker in overall traffic. A truly remarkable achievement for a poker site that most people in the UK have never even heard of. 9
Game Toughness: Everest Poker has some very weak players at all levels, in particular if you see a table full of French and Germans, then it’s time to fill your boots. At the time of writing (September 2007) we can only rank Everest second to Cake poker in terms of great games, and Everest has a far greater range of traffic to pick from. This site is a major winner in everything except graphics. 9
