Kiwi Casino Poker - Review

Kiwi Casino Poker launched in October 2005, the newest and most innovative online poker room on the internet. Kiwi Casino Poker is the online poker division of Christchurch Casinos in New Zealand.

Kiwi Poker are dedicated to running their poker room exactly as you would expect to find in a regular card room, that is with the utmost professionalism and with customer satisfaction as their ultimate goal.

You will find their games to be the exact replicas of those found in regular casinos, with cash games and tournaments running 24 hours a day, supervised by an experienced team of poker professionals who ensure the constant fairness and integrity of the game is never breached.

Kiwi Poker runs on the iPoker network of online card rooms.

Software: Kiwi Poker have employed Playtech, a new entrant to the online poker field, but one of the biggest and most experienced developers of online casino software, to create a unique online poker experience.

The sound effects are incredibly annoying, the slider doesn’t work too well, and there’s no Poker Tracker support, or proper hand histories, that being said some players will prefer the graphic style representation of the hands that Kiwi poker provides, so you win some, you lose some. Playtech are constantly upgrading this software, so while it may be lacking in some areas at present, it is certainly catching and passing the standards of others rapidly, there is no doubt that Kiwi Casino Poker will shortly have a market leading product. The overall look is certainly clean and crisp and easy to play, with the best looking colour scheme of all the ipoker network rooms, especially if you turn off the annoying avatars, it just needs the finishing touches and it’s there. 7/10

Support: You get the works here, although live support seems to be unavailable, the Kiwi Poker team claim that they offer it, so lets follow up on the promise Kiwi Poker! However support in spades here, Live Chat, email and telephone, giving plenty of options, although the answers are not always to the point. However they are new, and once they have found their poker feet, we are sure they’ll be up there with the best. 6/10

Banking: How many options do you need, Neteller, Debit cards, credit cards, Citadel, Western Union, Fedex, Western Union, pre-paid ATM, instadebit, paysafecard, usemybank, click2pay and more. Beware however, you will be asked for ID when making a withdrawal, a hangover from their online casino side, that we hope they soon get wise to, it is simply unacceptable in an online poker room, especially if using a deposit method such as Neteller. For that reason we have deducted a couple of points, or Kiwi Poker would get a full ten here. 8/10

Bonuses: $500, 100% matching bonus at 12.5x contributed raked hands to qualify by our reckoning, one of the best bonuses in poker, if not the fastest out there to clear. Kiwi Poker also uses the Ipoker points system rather than simply raked hands, so if you play at low limits this number of hands can go up dramatically. Kiwi Poker also offer, Bad Beat, High Hand, and refer-a-friend bonuses to add to the giveaways, and also hold exclusive tournaments to qualify for the New Zealand poker Championships, a first in online poker. 10/10

Game Availability: As you’d imagine for a new entrant, games are not that busy yet, and those that are generally 6 handed games. It is however usually pretty easy to get a 10 seater going, and this will soon fill up, if only Kiwi would put less 6 handed tables on show, we’d soon get some ring action, the players and demand are obviously there, it’s just that no-one wants to be the first to break open a new table you don’t really want it to be yet. There’s also a good selection of tournaments, and plenty of games available at the lower limits, it’s only a matter of time before the higher levels start to fill too. 6/10

Game Toughness: No-one can ever surely match the atrocious play of the Celeb Poker Turks, but Kiwi’s boys and girls come pretty damn close. Choose carefully and you’ll soon find those 50% flopping games in no Limit as well as Limit, there’s certainly money to be made here far easier than on most sites, which is why Kiwi Casino Poker is one of our top picks. 8/10
