Location & Accessibility (max 4/5)

Another prime location centre strip casino, opposite and between Caesers and Treasure Island, and with a simply huge frontage that boasts the famous fake canals and gondolas that are the most obvious reference to Venice for those who have no idea what the rest of the mimicked architecture is all about. (Yes I’ve been to Venice).

Card Room & Casino Ambience (5/5)

Venetian is an absolutely tremendous cardroom, the best poker facility in Vegas? Well we think so, it’s spacious, got 39 tables, and doesn’t get intruded upon by other areas of the casino money making machine. It has prime location, just immediately to the left of the main entrance doors, but during mid-April 2006, a couple of weeks after launch, it was doing badly. However no tournaments yet, which always gets the players in, and no $1/$2 no limit games being spread, so if you don’t offer the most popular game, you’re not going to be busy, but that being said it does work for Bellagio, maybe it’ll just take a while to catch on, time will tell on that one, but it certainly deserves to be a winner.

Card Room Staff (6/10)

We’ll have to give this more time, hardly difficult to keep the tables running smoothly when you only have four running even at peak time Saturday, in fact there were more management hanging around than tables open. As far as dealing goes, they were good but some mistakes were made, but apparently all the poker dealers came from in house and have been trained for the new card room, some they are bound to be green, they could certainly have been worse.

Waiting Staff (5/5)

I thought the girls were as good as any in Vegas here, excellent service and always making it feel like the constant grind of dealing with grumpy players was no problem. .

Level of Play (1/10) [10 being good]

This is definitely Bellagio standard bad, the lack of $1/$2NL definitely pushes the bad players up to the minimum available, and outside of the Bellagio, this is definitely the worst $2/$5 NL game in town, although Caesers gives it a good run for the money. If only there were more games, this would be the only place to play, but even so, you should give the Venetian a try.

Tournament Selection (0/10)

They don’t have any, they need to have some, get on it Venetian!

Cash Game Selection (1/5)

Never saw more than four games running, and with all those dealers sitting around, it’s a big shame, it really was too early to review, but on current levels unfortunately the Venetian poker room just isn’t at the races..

Total: 22/50

The score here just doesn’t do justice to probably the best poker room in Las Vegas, the games are soft, the room is fabulous, it’s not drowned out in noise from the slots like Excalibur or MGM Grand, or the noise from the bar like the MGM again, and the tables and chairs are as comfortable as any, this room should succeed, and here’s hoping it does, because enough money has obviously been spent to make it the best.

TheHomeofPoker just wishes this poker room could score higher, maybe on our next Las Vegas trip, they’ll have started tournaments and this room will be rocking.
