Ultimatebet - Review (Print this article)

Ultimatebet, the site endorsed by the Pros, with Phil Hellmuth, Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott, Annie Duke, “Magic” Antonio Esfandiari and famous tournament director Jack McClelland to back up the reputation of the company. It is Team UB's belief that the poker community deserves a playing environment that is true to the game played in the best poker rooms and tournaments around the world. You'll find that at UltimateBet.com

Software: Arguably the best on the market, a clean slightly tilted table, gives you a 45 degree look at the table, where you are always seated directly at the front centre of the table. Ultimatebet (UB) has many nice features such as the ability to change the background of the room to give you a new look when you’re fed up of the same old thing, a mini-view that gets you down to basics, and allows easy multi-tabling without the usual hassle of overlapping tables, ‘in focus’ chat whereby typing anywhere on the screen is all that is required to chat, so no more fiddling and clicking back to the chat box here, and Ultimatebuddy, an additional download that lets you track your friends and favourite opponents, and even alerts you when they’ve logged in. Finally the speed and colours are simple unbeatable, so despite the minor niggles of having to email support for hand histories for one, there is so little wrong with this, that TheHomeofPoker make this the one to beat, and give Ultimatebet full marks for its software. 10/10

Support: Only email support is available via a message box in the client or from the website itself. Answers are not always prompt or particularly helpful and this is an area that could certainly be improved. 3/10

Banking: UB accepts Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Citadel, Firepay and SFpay. Debit cards are also accepted. Withdrawals are not quite up there with the industry leaders. 8/10

Bonuses: Currently a 20% bonus up to $100 is available, and UB offer more reloads that just about anyone, but the wagering is incredibly slow and will require more time at the tables than just about anywhere else on the internet. On the plus side they are stackable, so when another comes along and you still have bonus dollars to work off, then the new bonus simple goes on top. A nice touch is the counter at the bottom of the screen showing the amount of bonus points earned in your current session, which is converted immediately into cash when you have finished a session. You can also double the rate you earn the bonus by being one of the first two players to sit at a new table, hence giving the bonus a slightly easier time scale to redeem. 5/10

Game Availability: UB have a far higher profile in the USA than in the UK and Europe, and consequently you will find that the majority of busy periods are late at night, but there is still a very strong selection of games and tournaments. You have to be quick when trying for a Sit’n’Go table as these fill up fast and often you will see the last four or five seats fill up in seconds and you miss out. 7/10

Game Toughness: UB is tough, very tough, if it was down to the software, then this is the place to be, but sometimes that isn’t enough, and the competition here is just too much, when there are so many easier sites out there with easy pickings. Obviously many players make money here, and the speed of the software certainly means that you’ll get a lot more hands in that will partly offset the smaller pots you’ll be winning in this rock garden, but as I’ve said, perhaps aesthetics isn’t enough when your bottom line is at stake? 2/10

Total 35/60
